SYMPTOM

Service Pack 4 for SQL Server Database Services 2005 ENU (KB2463332)’ could not be installed.

SOLUTION:

1)     Go to the location.

2)     Examine the latest log file.

Search the log for error code Err=3

OS error 3 indicates “file not found”.  This looked like a SQL 2000 upgrade artifact in the registry.   

Folder MSSQL and FTDATA were missing at the location “D:\SQL2005\MSSQL.1\”.Create an empty folder at that location and reran the setup.
